Description

Thirty-first doubled die reverse for the 2007 Philadelphia Wyoming State Quarter, DDR-031 exhibits strong spread under the saddle horn of the bucking bronco — a design element unique to Wyoming's contribution to the 50 State Quarters program. Cataloged by VarietyVista with codes UVC-1747 and DMR-034, the die progresses through three stages. Stage A is early die state, unconfirmed. Stage B shows the reverse at early die state while the obverse develops a die crack from the front of the bust to the rim through the Q of QUARTER at mid-die state. Stage C is late die state, unconfirmed. The bust-to-rim crack through Q at Stage B provides a dramatic obverse attribution marker. The saddle horn is a particularly effective location for detecting doubled dies on the Wyoming reverse because the horn's compact, isolated form makes even slight displacement immediately apparent. Thirty-one DDRs for this state quarter reflects intensive variety research during the popular 50 State Quarters series.
