2007 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-028

Description

Found on the 2007-P Wyoming State Quarter, DDR-028 exhibits a medium spread visible between the first and second tuft of the bucking horse's mane on the reverse. The Wyoming quarter features a rider atop a bucking bronco — an iconic Western image adapted from the state's license plate — and the flowing mane provides sufficient design relief to reveal hub doubling. Die markers include UVC-1744 and DMR-031. Three die stages have been documented: Stage A with both reverse and obverse in early die state, Stage B at mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C at late die state (unconfirmed). The State Quarter program (1999-2008) released five new designs annually, and each state's unique reverse imagery created new doubling diagnostics unfamiliar to collectors accustomed to the standard eagle reverse. Varieties like DDR-028 reward careful examination of design elements unique to each state's quarter, particularly high-relief areas such as animal fur and architectural details.
