Description

Strong doubling visible beneath the tip of the saddle horn makes this VarietyVista-cataloged DDR-027 one of the more visually appealing doubled die reverses on the 2007 Wyoming State Quarter. Wyoming's reverse design by Norman E. Nemeth depicts a bronco buster astride a bucking horse — the same cowboy silhouette that appears on the state's license plates — and the saddle horn sits at the apex of the rider's composition, making any die doubling there particularly noticeable. Die markers UVC-1743 and DMR-030 track this variety across three stages: Stage A in early die state (unconfirmed), Stage B at early-to-mid die state where a small die chip appears at the top of the cowboy's hat and the reverse is in EMDS, and Stage C in late die state (unconfirmed). The chip at the hat brim provides a strong secondary marker for authenticating the specific die pair.
