Description

Seventh doubled die reverse for the 2007 Philadelphia Wyoming State Quarter, DDR-007 shows medium spread between the first and second tufts of the bucking horse's mane — a design element unique to Wyoming's reverse that places the doubling on the state's iconic rodeo imagery. Cataloged by VarietyVista with codes UVC-1700 and DMR-009, the die progresses through three stages. Stage A places both reverse and obverse at early die state. Stage B at mid-die state develops a depression above the cowboy's hat and a die crack at the front of the bust on the obverse, with the reverse also reaching mid-die state. Stage C is late die state, unconfirmed. The depression above the hat and the front bust crack at Stage B provide two independent obverse diagnostics that together pinpoint specimens within this die pair's mid-production window. The 2007 Wyoming Quarter was part of the 50 State Quarters program that ran from 1999 through 2008, and the unique reverse designs for each state created denomination-specific doubling locations not found on any other issue.
