2007 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-004
Error
Description
Wyoming's 2007 State Quarter features a cowboy astride a bucking bronco, and the DDR-004 targets the saddle with a strong spread around the lower outside portion of the saddle horn. Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-1675 and DMR-006, this doubled die reverse documents significant hub displacement on one of the reverse's most prominent design elements. Three die stages chart the die's working life. Stage A places both the reverse and obverse in early die state. Stage B advances to early-to-mid die state, showing a depression outside the upper tail of the horse, with the obverse also reaching early-to-mid die state. Stage C represents the late die state, still unconfirmed. The strong spread designation indicates that the doubling around the saddle horn is readily visible under moderate magnification, making this one of the more eye-catching doubled die varieties on the Wyoming quarter. The Stage B depression near the horse's upper tail provides a useful secondary marker for confirming both the variety and the die state, particularly when the saddle horn area shows wear from circulation.
