Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this 2007-P Utah State Quarter displays a doubled die reverse produced by hub misalignment during die sinking. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 2007-P 25-cent UT WDDR-002. Die markers track two stages: Obverse Stage A with a die crack across the base of the bust through the designer's initials on the right and into the field left of the front bust tip; Obverse Stage B with die scratches running north from the top and right side of A in STATES. Reverse Stage A with none significant; Reverse Stage B with a die scratch running ENE from the top right of T in WEST. The bust die crack at Stage A traversing the designer's initials is a distinctive attribution marker. Struck in copper-nickel clad at 5.67 grams and 24.26 mm, the Utah Quarter's reverse depicts the golden spike ceremony at Promontory Summit, commemorating the 1869 transcontinental railroad completion.
