Description

Strong extra thickness shows on LIBERTY with notches on the lower right of ERTY on this 2006 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent, the primary diagnostic for WDDO-022. Extra thickness also appears on the lower hair and beard details of the Lincoln portrait. Cross-references: Coppercoins 2006P-1DO-006; Wexler Variety ID: 2006 1¢ WDDO-022. Obverse die markers: a die gouge near the rim to the left of the 6, at approximately 7:15. The dual cross-reference to both the Coppercoins and Wexler attribution systems provides independent verification for this doubled die, reflecting the comprehensive documentation effort applied to Lincoln Memorial cent varieties. The ERTY notches on the lower right of LIBERTY are a visually specific diagnostic — notching on this portion of the inscription indicates the doubling class produces distinct step-like ledges rather than simple extra thickness. The Lincoln Memorial cent ran from 1959 through 2008, and WDDO-022 was attributed during the later years of that series. The rim gouge at 7:15 beside the 6 is a reliable single-point obverse marker. A small die gouge can be seen well north of the E in LIBERTY. A large die chip can be found at the top of the first Memorial bay.
