Description

Displaying light extra thickness on the date and LIBERTY with distinctive notches visible on the upper left of the letters ERTY, this 2006-P Lincoln Memorial Cent WDDO-015 offers collectors identifiable doubling characteristics. The notching pattern on LIBERTY provides a particularly useful diagnostic, as this type of interrupted extra thickness is often easier to detect under moderate magnification than uniform thickening. Obverse die markers include a small die gouge to the right of the bottom of the first zero in the date, while the reverse carries a small die gouge below the left side of the A in STATES. The 2006 Lincoln Memorial Cent was produced during the penultimate years of the Memorial reverse, with only two years remaining before the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial designs would replace Frank Gasparro's long-running composition. Cross-referenced as Crawford: CDDO-006 and Wexler Variety ID: 2006 1c WDDO-015. The dual cross-referencing to both Crawford and Wexler catalogs demonstrates how multiple attribution systems document the same variety, giving collectors alternative pathways for identification and verification against published records.
