Description

Among Colorado State Quarter doubled dies, the 2006 WDDO-001 stands out for its subtlety. The doubling manifests on the underside of Washington's earlobe, requiring careful examination under magnification. Die scratches running northwest to southeast through the L of LIBERTY help confirm attribution, along with a secondary scratch heading south-southeast from the center of the I in LIBERTY. The reverse carries two parallel die scratches running east-southeast from the A to the R in QUARTER, plus a short die gouge angled east-southeast from the left underside of the horizontal bar of the A in DOLLAR. No significant reverse doubling has been noted. Crawford cataloged this as CDDO-002, providing an important cross-reference for collectors seeking independent verification. Attributed by the Wexler Team, this regular strike variety rewards patient searching through rolls and bags of 2006 Colorado quarters.
