1995P-1DEO-012T Trail Die Obverse
Error
Description
Late die state diagnostics define this twelfth trail die obverse for the 1995 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial Cent. At Stage "C", the obverse is LDS with a die gouge in the middle of the U in TRUST, and the reverse has also reached LDS. Trail dies form when a ghost-like secondary image appears displaced from the primary design, caused by an impression transfer event during die preparation. By 1995 Philadelphia produced billions of cents annually on high-speed presses that placed extreme demands on each die pair. Cataloged by Trail Dies under the 1DEO-012T designation.
