1995D-1DER-010T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Discovered by David Miller of California, the 1995D-1DER-010T trail die reverse on the Denver Lincoln Memorial Cent shows trail lines extending from the right top corners of most letters in E PLURIBUS UNUM, with additional trails on the AME of AMERICA and several right-side column tops. The offset direction is 030 degrees, placing the trail displacement toward the one o'clock position. Die markers at Stage B identify mid-die state on both sides: the obverse shows no notable markers, while the reverse displays old die scratches running from the TE of UNITED down to the C of CENT, plus a die dent near the rim under the C of CENT. The combination of trail lines on lettering and architectural column tops demonstrates how the lateral die shift during hubbing affected both text and structural design elements. The 030-degree offset provides a precise vector for the displacement direction, useful for confirming attribution against reference specimens. The 1995-D Lincoln Cent was produced in substantial quantities at Denver, and Miller's discovery added another documented trail die to the growing catalog for this date.
