1994P-1DEO-010T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Found by Bill Slaughter, 1994P-1DEO-010T is a Stage D very-late-die-state (VLDS) trail die obverse on the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln cent with light trails extending from the IBE of LIBERTY at an offset direction of 270 degrees. The extremely advanced die state produced a rich set of die markers: on the obverse, a die dot appears in the upper loop of the B in LIBERTY, a die dent caused by a struck-through foreign object runs through the T of LIBERTY, and a die dot sits on the outside of the upper loop of the first 9 digit in the date. On the reverse, a die chip appears on the left side of the T in CENT. The Stage D VLDS designation — the most advanced die state in the standard classification — indicates this die was at the very end of its operational life, and the accumulation of die dots, dents, and chips across both sides confirms extensive wear and damage.
