The 1994 (D) World Cup USA Commemorative Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Denver Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 168,208 examples. Part of the 1994 World Cup three-coin program, this half dollar captures the energy of individual soccer skill. The obverse features a single soccer player in action, running down the field with the ball at his feet, while the reverse displays the official World Cup USA 1994 logo with laurel branches. Designed by Richard T. LaRoche/Dean McCullen. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9680. The World Cup half dollar's dynamic single-player design makes it the most action-oriented of the three denominations in the program.
