Error
Description
Found by Eric Oberg of California, 1992D-1DER-011T documents a dual-direction trail die with displacement vectors at 320 degrees and 080 degrees, originally analyzed using a two-color arrow system to map the distinct trail paths across the reverse die. The 320-degree displacement (marked with black arrows in the attribution photographs) affects E PLURIBUS UNUM, the first S of STATES, UNITED, the cornice, columns, stylobate, and the N and E of ONE — elements concentrated on the left and upper portions of the reverse. The 080-degree displacement (marked with white arrows) affects MERI of AMERICA, the right corner of the roof, the right corner of the cornice, the right stylobate corners, the designer's initials FG, and CENT — features along the right and lower portions. This spatial separation, where the two trail directions divide the die roughly into left-upper and right-lower zones of influence, reflects the geometry of the two displacement events and how each impacted the die surface from different angles. Documented at Stage B in a Late-Mid Die State (LMDS), the obverse carries a die gouge under the G of GOD, while a small die gouge sits in the upper part of bay eleven on the reverse. Struck at Denver on copper-plated zinc planchets, 2.5 grams, 19mm, plain edge.
