Description

Potentially the same die as Coppercoins 1984D-1MM-005, WRPM-010 for the 1984 Denver Mint Lincoln Memorial cent shows D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunching with detailed die markers supporting the tentative cross-identification. Cataloged as Wexler 1984-D 1¢ WRPM-010, this die shares a gouge south of the second T in TRUST and similar mint mark placement with the Coppercoins listing, though the match remains unconfirmed. Obverse markers include a gouge above the right 4, a gouge between the lower middle of 19, damage inside the U in TRUST, gouges south and southeast of the second T in TRUST, and a gouge above RT in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a heavy gouge appears on the lower left of the first A in AMERICA, with additional gouges on the lower right R, between the upper NT in CENT, inside the right N in ONE, on the outer right O in ONE, and running north-northwest through the right Memorial bays. The potential Coppercoins cross-reference illustrates how independently maintained catalogs gradually converge as researchers compare findings. Denver struck approximately 5.57 billion cents on copper-plated zinc planchets at 2.5 grams.
