Description

Rotating clockwise from a pivot near 4 o'clock, WDDO-006 produces hub doubling on LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST on the 1983 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged as Wexler WDDO-006 with no other known cross-references. The obverse carries several distinctive die preparation marks: light die scratches running north-northeast from the upper right of L and I in LIBERTY, and a light die scratch oriented east-west across the lower front bust point. These die scratches serve as permanent attribution diagnostics that distinguish this die from all others in the 1983 WDDO census. The reverse die paired with this obverse shows numerous die scratches between ONE and the lower left of the Memorial, horizontal die scratches above the upper right Memorial, and a die crack running from the left cornice to the rim between the I and T of UNITED. This reverse die crack indicates progressive structural failure, and its position along the upper Memorial facade — a high-stress region of the die — is consistent with fracture patterns commonly observed on Lincoln Memorial cent reverse dies. The 4 o'clock pivot angle shares a similar quadrant with WDDO-005's 5 o'clock pivot but produces a geometrically distinct doubling pattern. Attribution by Wexler Team. A clockwise spread from a pivot at about 4 o’clock shows on LIBERTY and IGWT.
