Description

Stepping up in doubling intensity from several of its neighbors, DDO-008 displays a light to medium spread on LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST on the 1983 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent. This intermediate characterization — neither purely light nor fully medium — places DDO-008 at a transitional point in the doubling magnitude spectrum, where the secondary images are more pronounced than the subtlest light-spread varieties but fall short of the clearly separated doubling that defines medium-spread classification. Die markers UVC-2374 and DMR-010 identify this specific die within the variety cross-reference system. The "light to medium" designation often indicates that the doubling's visibility varies across the affected inscriptions — some letters may show only subtle thickening while others exhibit more clearly separated secondary outlines, reflecting the non-uniform distribution of misalignment effects across different positions on the die face. On LIBERTY near the rim at the right side of the obverse, hub doubling manifests primarily on vertical strokes and serifs, while on IN GOD WE TRUST along the upper arc, the curved letter forms and varying distances from the rotation center may present the doubling differently.
