Description

Bearing multiple catalog cross-references as CONECA 1-O-I, Cherrypickers FS-50-1974D-101, and Wexler WDDO-001, this 1974-D Kennedy Half Dollar features a strong counterclockwise spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, and LIBERTY. The die progressed through two documented stages: Stage A shows no significant markers on either side, while Stage B reveals very late die state characteristics where the lettering takes on a mushy appearance from extreme die wear, with the reverse also exhibiting the same advanced deterioration at both stages. The copper-nickel clad composition used for Kennedy Half Dollars from 1971 onward makes this a base-metal variety, though the strong CCW spread and prestigious Cherrypickers listing ensure sustained collector demand.
