Description

Die markers UVC-044 and DMR-005 confirm the working die across three states: Stage A with both obverse and reverse in Early Die State showing the crispest expression of all three impressions, Stage B in Mid Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C in Late Die State (unconfirmed). The 1972-S proof silver Eisenhower Dollar was struck at the San Francisco Mint in 40% silver clad composition — outer layers of 80% silver and 20% copper over a silver-rich core — at 24.59 grams on 38.1mm planchets.
