Error
Description
When silver was removed from the Roosevelt Dime with the Coinage Act of 1965, subsequent issues transitioned to a copper-nickel clad composition bonded to a copper core. The 1971-D Roosevelt Dime RPM-001 is among the earliest documented repunched mintmark varieties in the clad dime series and carries the Cherrypickers' Guide cross-reference FS-501. VarietyVista catalogs this variety under UVC-555 and DMR-002. The mintmark displacement is D/D South, with the secondary impression appearing north of the final D. All three die stages are recorded in basic or unconfirmed notation without detailed sequential markers. Notably, this variety can be found in Mint Sets — annual sealed sets of uncirculated business-strike coins — making original Mint Set coins an efficient source for uncirculated examples with intact surfaces.
