Stage A (UVC-542, DMR-009) shows the reverse in EDS with the mintmark centered, while Stage B (UVC-543, DMR-010) records the reverse at MDS with the obverse die changed to EDS and the mintmark shifted to the right of center. The assignment of separate UVC codes to different stages — 542 for Stage A and 543 for Stage B — reflects the fact that the obverse die was replaced between stages, creating two distinct die marriages sharing the same doubled reverse die. This documentation reveals that the reversed die outlasted its first obverse die partner and was paired with a fresh obverse for continued production.
