Description

Among the most significant proof Kennedy half dollar varieties, WDDO-001 on the 1968-S displays strong clockwise Class I (Rotated Hub) spread across IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, LIBERTY, Kennedy's nose, eyebrow, upper hair details, and designer Gilroy Roberts' initials — with the 8 in the date appearing tripled, a dramatic effect where three distinct digit images are visible. The Class I rotational mechanism produces progressively stronger displacement farther from the pivot point, explaining why design elements distributed across the obverse all show varying degrees of spread. The tripled 8 is the marquee diagnostic: three separate images of the final date digit make this one of the more visually striking proof DDOs in the Kennedy series. Obverse die markers include a die gouge between the lower right side of the 6 and the rim.
