Description

Distinguished from its proof Kennedy companion DDO-032 by a different spread distribution, DDO-038 presents medium spread on WE TRUST and TY of LIBERTY with lighter spread on IN GOD. Attributed by VarietyVista as UVC-469 with die marriage DMR-061, this variety pairs with the Flared G reverse die variant (RDV-002), distinguished from the Straight G by the shape of Frank Gasparro's initial — the lower horizontal stroke extends outward rather than curving inward. Only Stage C at late die state is confirmed for both dies, with EDS and MDS unconfirmed. The Straight G versus Flared G distinction on 1964 Kennedy Half Dollars is one of the most widely recognized reverse die variants in the series, and knowing which reverse accompanies each obverse variety helps collectors narrow die marriages. The 1964 proof Kennedy Half's 90% silver composition and record production make it a rich field for variety research.
