1964 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-036

Description

From the inaugural year of Gilroy Roberts' Kennedy Half Dollar design, DDO-036 documents a proof strike exhibiting light triple spread on WE TRUST, the RTY of LIBERTY, and the hair at the back of Kennedy's head. Die markers are cataloged as UVC-464 and DMR-057, with three die stages recorded: Stage A showing a die gouge dot on the upper lip in EDS with the reverse also in EDS, Stage B in MDS (unconfirmed), and Stage C in LDS (unconfirmed). The obverse die variety is ODV-002, paired with RDV-001 (Straight G)—the "Straight G" referring to the style of Frank Gasparro's initial on the reverse. Philadelphia Mint proof strike.
