1964 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-024

Description

Sharing the inaugural proof year with its companion DDO-004 but produced from a separate die, DDO-024 on the 1964 Proof Kennedy Half Dollar displays medium spread on WE TRUST, TY of LIBERTY, the hair detail under the R, and the numeral 4 of the date. Stage B provides the key diagnostic: a die gouge visible on the rim above the left leg of U in UNITED on the reverse, at mid-die state. Unlike DDO-004, which shows triple impressions on certain elements, DDO-024 presents a more conventional two-impression doubled die pattern, though the medium-strength spread across multiple design features still makes it a visually rewarding variety. Cataloged as UVC-030 with DMR-030, this variety also carries the ODV-002/RDV-002 "Flared G" pairing — the same obverse and reverse design variety as DDO-004, identified by the distinctively flared serif on the G in GOD. The 90% silver 1964 proof was struck at Philadelphia during the final year of that facility's exclusive proof production.
