Description

Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-502, this VarietyVista-documented 1964-D Roosevelt Silver Dime features a D/D East into torch displacement with the obverse classified as ODV-011 (blunt 9), creating a dual-variety coin. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-484 / DMR-032 for Stage A and UVC-485 / DMR-033 for Stages B-D. Stage A with a die gouge dot under the first U of PLURIBUS at EDS and a light die crack across upper hair at MDS; Stage B with die clash showing on left side of reverse at MDS and obverse die changed at EDS; Stage C with numerous fine die scratches on reverse at LMDS, a weak secondary mintmark, and obverse at EMDS; Stage D at LDS (unconfirmed). The blunt 9 obverse variant adds a secondary classification. As the final year of silver dime production, 1964-D varieties hold special significance. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm.
