Description

A rare COMBO variety — both obverse and reverse are attributed doubled dies — WDDO-006 for the 1963-P Washington Quarter (90% silver) shows a spread toward center on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, the designer's initials, the bottom of the queue, and LIBERTY on the obverse, while the reverse is listed as WDDR-001, carrying a Class I counterclockwise spread on USA, QUARTER DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and slightly on the lower branch ends. Obverse die markers include a die scratch running NE from the top of the O in GOD. Reverse die markers include a heavy die gouge between the upper left of the U in QUARTER and the leaf above U. Both attributions are fully independent — the obverse doubling and reverse doubling arise from separate hub impressions on their respective dies — making this one of the few Washington Quarter varieties where both faces carry documented doubled-die listings. Cross-reference: Wexler Variety ID: 1963 25¢ WDDO-006.
