A dime from the Denver Mint, the 1961 (D) Roosevelt Dime belongs to the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series. The U.S. Mint produced 209.1 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 69% of production. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965.
