Sinnock's obverse design. Three die stages are documented: Stage A is unconfirmed EDS, Stage B is unconfirmed MDS, and Stage C shows both obverse and reverse confirmed at late die state (LDS). As DDO-001, this holds foundational status as the first cataloged doubled die obverse for the 1959 date — the final year of the Franklin Half Dollar series. The 1959 Franklin Half Dollar was the last issue before the design was replaced by Gilroy Roberts's Kennedy Half Dollar in 1964, following President Kennedy's assassination.
