Description

Classified as Class II Distorted Hub Doubling, this 1957 Proof Jefferson Nickel WDDO-002 presents very close spread on LIBERTY, the star, and the date. Cross-referenced as CONECA 3-O-VI, this variety is part of a multi-variety die pair — the reverse die is also listed as 1957 Pr 5c WDDR-004A. A die scratch running from the lower portion of the D in GOD to the center of the W in WE serves as the primary obverse attribution marker. Distorted Hub Doubling results from the hub flexing under immense pressure during the die sinking process, producing subtle but consistent spread across affected elements.
