Description

Recorded by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent tracks five progressive die states documenting the progression of a shoulder crack from light to medium alongside accumulating reverse damage. Die markers UVC-1051 / DMR-014: Stage A with obverse and reverse at EDS; Stage B with a light die crack across shoulder at MDS and reverse at MDS; Stage C with a medium die crack across shoulder at LDS, a die clash at throat and behind neck, and die scratches east-west on reverse at LDS; Stage D with obverse at LDS and a die crack in upper left wheat grains at LDS; Stage E with obverse at LDS and a die break in upper left wheat grains at LDS. The evolution from die crack to die break in the left wheat grains between Stages D and E documents the transition from a fracture line to actual metal separation. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
