1955-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-011

Description

Showing a D/D Tilted displacement, this 1955 Denver Lincoln Wheat Cent was documented by VarietyVista. Die markers UVC-543 / DMR-013: Stage A obverse and reverse EDS; Stage B obverse MDS with a die chip on the T of CENT on the reverse; Stage C obverse LDS with a light die crack on Lincoln's forehead and larger die chips on the T of CENT. The progressive T deterioration from a single chip at MDS to larger chips at LDS, plus the new forehead crack, documents parallel aging across both dies. The 1955-D date is notable alongside the companion Philadelphia issue's famous 1955 Doubled Die Obverse. Struck in 95% copper and 5% tin-and-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the tilted D/D creates a rotational overlap where separation varies around the letter's perimeter. D/D Tilted.
