1954-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-002

Description

Featuring a D/D Rotated CW displacement alongside extensive obverse die deterioration, this 1954-D Roosevelt Silver Dime was documented by VarietyVista. Die markers UVC-259 / DMR-003: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with a die gouge lower NE of ONE, a large die break on nose, a large die break on eyebrow, and a die crack along upper back hair at MDS; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The dual large die breaks on Roosevelt's nose and eyebrow combined with the hair die crack document severe obverse die degradation at mid-life. Designed by John R. Sinnock, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm at the Denver Mint. The clockwise rotational displacement creates non-parallel overlap between the primary and secondary D impressions, with varying separation distances around the letter.
