Description

Submitted by Tony Russo and attributed by the Wexler Team (Wexler Variety ID: 1954-D 10¢ WRPM-006), this Denver Mint Roosevelt Dime shows a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunch positioned closer to the torch than WRPM-001. Obverse diagnostics: light NE/SW die scratches in fields, short N/S die scratch centered between E and R of LIBERTY. The reverse presents rich die markers: medium die chip upper left of U in UNITED, die scratch west from right lower N in UNITED, right-leaning X-shaped die scratch at upper olive leaf, die scratch N by E from top of L in PLURIBUS to left olive stem, die gouge below lower TE of UNITED, N/S die crack on upper right olive leaf, and numerous field scratches. This abundance of reverse markers makes attribution straightforward even on moderately circulated specimens. Minted during the post-war silver era, the 1954-D dime was struck in 90% silver at Denver. Die scratch north by east from the top of the L in PLURIBUS to the stem of the left olive.
