Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team and cross-referenced as CONECA RPM #3, this 1952-S Jefferson Nickel WRPM-002 carries dual attribution verification. The obverse shows a small die gouge below the nine in the date. The reverse features two die gouges: one above Monticello's right roof and another above the M in AMERICA. These roof-area and inscription markers provide multiple reverse identification points independent of the mintmark. Struck at San Francisco in 1952, this nickel is 75% copper and 25% nickel, weighing 5.0 grams at 21.21 mm diameter. Schlag's Monticello reverse depicts the five-part facade of Jefferson's estate, and markers near the roofline intersect with the building's most architecturally detailed area. The CONECA RPM #3 confirms this is among the top three recognized RPMs for the date.
