1952 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-002
Error
Description
Documented by VarietyVista, this 1952 Washington Silver Quarter DDR-002 also carries comments identifying it as RDV-002 / RDV-001, indicating reverse design variant classifications. Die markers span two reverse pairings: UVC-0785 / DMR-010 for Stage A with a horizontal question mark die gouge between legs at EDS and obverse listed as ODV-005 at LDS, Stage B with reverse at MDS and obverse at VLDS; then UVC-0786 / DMR-011 for Stage C with reverse at LDS and obverse die changed to ODV-005 at EMDS. The obverse die change from VLDS back to EMDS between Stages B and C confirms the obverse was replaced mid-production while the doubled reverse continued. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm, the 1952 Washington Quarter was designed by John Flanagan. The ODV-005 shifted die obverse pairing adds a second variety classification.
