1950-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-004

Description

The 1950-S Roosevelt Dime RPM-004 is an S/S Southeast repunched mintmark variety documented by VarietyVista under die tracking codes UVC-203 and DMR-005. Two confirmed die stages carry specific markers. Stage B, the late-middle die state (LMDS), is identified by die scratches running north-south on the obverse. Stage C, the late die state (LDS), is defined by a distinctive die scratch running from the lower torch area to the right stem on the reverse — a reliable attribute marker in worn examples where the repunch itself may be difficult to resolve. The 1950-S Roosevelt Dime is a 90% silver coin struck at the San Francisco Mint. The Roosevelt Dime was introduced in 1946 to honor Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose close association with the March of Dimes charity made the ten-cent denomination an appropriate memorial. The pre-1965 Roosevelt Dimes are struck in 90% silver, and the 1950-S is a scarcer date in the early series. The southeast repunch on RPM-004 is visible to the northwest of the final mintmark position.
