Description

Completing the three-mint set of 1950 Lincoln Wheat Cent WWHO-001 specimens, the San Francisco issue carries the same hub-level obverse doubling found on Philadelphia and Denver examples. The WWHO classification — Working die from a Working Hub with Obverse doubling — establishes that this is not an individual die anomaly but a systematic error embedded in the master hub tooling that propagated to every working die derived from it. The close spread towards the center on the E in WE of IN GOD WE TRUST appears identically regardless of mint facility, since all three received working dies from the same flawed hub. Die markers vary among working dies, meaning each San Francisco die shows its own scratches and wear patterns while sharing the constant hub doubling.
