1950-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-014

Description

Documented by VarietyVista, this 1950-S Lincoln Wheat Cent carries the 14th cataloged repunched mintmark for the date. Die markers UVC-112 / DMR-017 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with the obverse at MDS and the outside lower right wheat abraded away at MDS; Stage C with obverse and reverse at LDS. The abraded wheat detail in Stage B documents mechanical wear eroding fine design elements as the die accumulated strikes. Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams with a 19.05 mm diameter, this cent bears Brenner's iconic obverse portrait paired with the wheat ears reverse that served from 1909 through 1958.
