Description

Documented by VarietyVista, this San Francisco Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent tracks four stages including extensive late-life die cracking across both faces, plus a reverse die change between Stages C and D. Die markers UVC-353 / DMR-014: Stage A with obverse at EMDS and reverse at MDS; Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with a die crack from the lapel to rim at LDS, a die crack from E of STATES through the wheat to rim at VLDS, a die crack from E of ONE through S of PLURIBUS to rim, and a die crack from the left wheat lines to rim. Then UVC-354 / DMR-015: Stage D with a die crack from the head to rim through the center of W of WE at VLDS, and the reverse die changed at MDS. The four separate rim-reaching cracks at Stage C document catastrophic reverse structural failure. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
