Description

Primary DDO for the 1948 San Francisco Roosevelt Silver Dime, showing medium extra thickness on LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, designer's initials JS, and the date. Die tracking: UVC-0775, DMR-010. Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed). Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed). Stage C: obverse and reverse are LDS. The confirmed LDS at Stage C means early-state specimens are harder to locate. San Francisco struck approximately 35.52 million dimes in 1948, all in 90% silver composition that continued until the 1965 Coinage Act. Cataloged by VarietyVista. Sinnock's Roosevelt portrait, introduced in 1946, was only two years into production at this date.
