Description
Part of the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series, the 1948 Roosevelt Dime is a dime from the Philadelphia Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 75.0 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 46% of the year's production. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $19 depending on grade and condition.
