1947-S Repunched Mintmark WRPM-014

Description

Fourteenth repunched mintmark for the 1947 San Francisco Lincoln Wheat Cent, WRPM-014 features a sans serif style mintmark — a detail that narrows the possible mintmark punches used, since the Mint employed different punch styles across production years. Extensive obverse die markers include N/S die scratches running through the 1 and 9 of the date ending below R and U of TRUST, N/S die gouges on the top of Lincoln's forehead, a strong die scratch running north from the top of the R of LIBERTY, and a die chip on the D of VDB. The reverse shows N/S die scratches running through the left wheat stem.
