Description

Repunched mintmark variety on the 1947 San Francisco Lincoln Wheat Cent, catalogued by VarietyVista as RPM-007. The mintmark is classified S/S North, with the secondary S impression displaced northward relative to the primary strike. Die marker codes UVC-297 and DMR-010 are assigned. Stage A is early die state (EDS, unconfirmed). Stage B is confirmed as middle die state (MDS) on both obverse and reverse. Stage C is late die state (LDS) on both obverse and reverse. Additional mintmark cross-references are documented: MMS-007 for the Sans Serif mintmark punch and MMS-004 for the Trumpet Tail mintmark punch. These dual MMS codes cross-index the attribution against both main punch styles used for Wheat Cent S mintmarks. The S/S North geometry is visible at the top of the S, where the secondary impression creates a stepped appearance at the northern serif. Stage B coins, with both sides in MDS, offer the best combination of marker visibility and confirmed die identification. Attribution: VarietyVista; UVC-297, DMR-010.
