1947 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007
Error
Description
Cataloged by the Wexler Team, WDDO-007 of the 1947 Lincoln wheat cent features a Class IV spread to the south visible on the bottom of the inside of the ear, the top of the bowtie, the eyelid, the top of the 9, the TRU in TRUST, and the D in GOD. An additional partial extra eyelid can be seen east of the normal eyelid, making this one of the more visually distinctive doubled dies for the date. The Class IV offset-rotational doubling produces a southward shift across multiple design elements on the obverse. Cross-referenced as CONECA 5-O-IV+VIII, Coppercoins 1947P-1DO-006, and Wexler Variety ID 1947 1 cent WDDO-007, this variety is well documented across attribution services. The combined Class IV and VIII designation indicates both rotational and tilted hub doubling components contributed to the final die impression. No significant die markers have been reported on either the obverse or the reverse.
