Description

Cataloged as UVC-010 and DMR-010 in the VarietyVista system and cross-referenced as FS-104, the 1946 Roosevelt Dime DDO-008 exhibits strong spread on the date, IN GOD WE TRUST, the designer's initials positioned side by side, and the bottom edge of the bust, with medium spread on LIBERTY. The obverse die variety is ODV-001. Three die stages trace the progression: Stage A is an unconfirmed early die state. Stage B reaches mid-die-state, identified by a die clash on the bridge of the nose and under the chin along with north-south die scratches on the nose in front of the eye, while the reverse is also at MDS. Stage C is an unconfirmed late die state. As one of the earlier Roosevelt Dime doubled dies, this variety benefits from the strong spread across multiple design elements, giving collectors several confirmation points when examining 1946-dated dimes from circulation finds or original rolls.
