1946 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-002

Description

Medium spread directed south on the eyelid and inside the loop of the 9 in the date defines this 1946 Lincoln Wheat Cent DDO-002, struck during the first postwar year when the Mint returned to standard bronze composition after wartime substitutions. Die markers include UVC-1711 and die marriage DMR-003. Stage A documents both the obverse and reverse in Early Die State, capturing the die when it was freshly prepared and producing its sharpest impressions. Stage B in Mid-Die State remains unconfirmed.
