Description
Hub misalignment during die manufacture produced this doubled die reverse on a 1945-P wartime Jefferson Nickel, cataloged by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-786 / DMR-073. Three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). All three stages carry unconfirmed designations, indicating specimens for each state have not been definitively verified, though the variety itself is positively identified. The absence of additional die-specific markers across all stages suggests this die pair ran a relatively clean production life without developing distinctive deterioration features. Composed of the wartime alloy of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese, weighing 5.0 grams with a 21.21 mm diameter. Felix Schlag's Monticello reverse carries the oversized P mintmark above the dome.
