1943-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-004

Description

Documented by VarietyVista, this wartime 1943-D Washington Silver Quarter from the Denver Mint features eight distinct die cracks at Stage C, documenting extensive structural failure across both the eagle reverse and Washington obverse. Die markers UVC-0343 / DMR-019: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with die cracks down right wing, from right wing tip to rim, from lower right wing across leaves, from left wing to BUS of PLURIBUS, east from eagle's plume at LDS, across bust at MDS, through upper hair extending into field at back of head, and through upper hair extending into field at front of head. The hair cracks extending into the open field demonstrate fractures propagating beyond the raised design area. Designed by John Flanagan, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm during wartime silver quarter production.
