Description

As the primary cataloged RPM for the wartime 1943-D date, this VarietyVista-documented Washington Silver Quarter from the Denver Mint features extensive reverse die cracking at Stage B. Die markers UVC-0340 / DMR-016: Stage A with reverse and obverse at EDS; Stage B with die cracks through left wing tip through BUS of PLURIBUS, eagle's right wing tip through EPL of E PLURIBUS, down eagle's right wing to leaves above QU of QUARTER, and a light die crack across upper hair to forehead at MDS; Stage C with the die crack extending through E PLURI of PLURIBUS at LDS and a die crack from last S of STATES through US of PLURIBUS to wing, with obverse at LDS. The expanding network of reverse cracks documents progressive structural failure across the eagle design. Designed by John Flanagan, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm.
